Søster Severson's Adventures Week 13-Forget Denmark, I'm Going to India
Hej!!!
It has been an absolutely insane week- not even
sure where to start. We've been doing a bunch of service and yard work,
had our first in person district council and again have been doing a lot
of former and Facebook work.
Absolute Highlights
of the week though were Paula and Janani. We got Paula on date for
baptism!! It was so cute we asked her if she would be baptized and then
she was like " ...sure" and then she was like "yes I mean YES!" Haha she
is so sweet and her testimony and love of God is so pure. Every time we
meet with her she just lights up our day.
Other
highlight of the week is Janani!!! The most adorable girl from India,
we've been able to video call with her twice and she is just the literal
cutest person. We were able to get into contact with Elders in India
and did a lesson with her and them that was... hardcore. Basically we
have been teaching Janani really slow and trying to ease her into the
idea of the Book of Mormon it Mormon been really hard because of
internet issues and the time zones but we have been connecting with her
and building her trust. But yesterday we had the Indian Elders join and
they just busted straight through and explain the whole Restoration to
her like almost verbatim from Preach my Gospel and we were like 🤯!
But afterward she was like "that was great! I learned so much!" And we
were like dang I guess that's how they just do it in India. But Sister
Butler and I decided that instead of me going to Denmark we both just
going to go to India to find Janani. Good plan.
Spiritual
Thought: My favorite line from the Come Follow Me reading this week is
from Alma 34:38 that says "and worship God, in whatsoever place ye may
be in,"
This verse obviously made me reflect on
lockdown and what it has meant to me to worship from home. I realized
that an unexpected benefit of Home Church is that the sacrament has
become so much more meaningful to me. During regular church I think I
had a tenancy to be more anxious than reverent trying to make sure I got
my gluten-free bread. But being able to focus now more on the reverence
of the sacrament and on the spirit has made these past few months so
meaningful. Yesterday we had sacrament by the pool of our apartment
complex.. worshiping when and where we can ! How have you felt this
lockdown has forced you to change and evolve your relationship with
God?
This email is
getting pretty long but shout out to Søster Clark for heading out to
Yakima!! (We will get to Denmark...eventually) And to Claire (ahem, Sœre
Jones) on getting called to Paris France!!!!
