One Year Older (And Hopefully Wiser Too?) Søster Severson's Adventures in Sønderborg Denmark, April 19, 2021 Week 52

 Hej med jer!!!

Denne sidste uge tog vi op til København, og det var bare hyggelig.

*(Prepare yourself for way too long of a weekly undskyld)

This last week our district, (our sub group of missionaries so us in Sønderborg, the Frederacia Søstre, and Odense Elders and Sisters) got to go to Copenhagen for the day!!! But tbh the whole week was too much fun.

Because of how far away we are, (tak sønderborg) we got to do double sleepovers in Frederacia with Søster Hofmann and Søster Taylor !! So we drove up Monday night, spent the day in Copenhagen, then drove back on Wednesday morning.

Copenhagen was SO much fun. We got to go to the Temple and do baptisms for the dead. It was the first time I've been able to go to the temple since Hawaii and it was a super special experience. Nothing can compare to the overwhelming peace and clarity of being inside a temple. It made me so grateful that I was able to go through so often before my mission, A little sad the temples are mostly still closed, but excited and happy I live so close to one in Oakland.

I had been feeling a little discouraged before we went through the temple because our area isn't doing well right now. We are only teaching one friend and it just depresses us so much when we try so hard to contact and make friends and nothing pans out. Especially because the first and beginning of my second transfer here were so strong. But Søster Hofmann pointed out that as a district we were able to baptize 80 people in one day. Are not those souls just as precious to God? Going to the temple helped me refocus and I felt an overwhelming sense that God is incredibly proud of me and the work I am doing. Even if we don't see the tangible fruits of our effort now, we are laying the foundations for others to build on our work.

After going through the temple we were able to see some more touristy things, we saw the palace, the Kristus statue, and Nyhavn of course. Got some pretty iconic district pictures. Grabbed some food, said hi to some of our missionary friends serving in the city and headed home.

Thursday we got to drive back up to Frederacia for district council and (the best surprise of the week) I got to see Søster Clark on our 1 year!!! Esbjerg isn't in our district anymore so I haven't gotten to see her in a while but I love her and am so blown away that we started this crazy journey together over a year ago. Hvad i verden.

Fun week, fun friends. So grateful for the mission. Hitting one year has made me really reflect on just how much has happened and how much I have changed. It is a good feeling to know where I stand with God and how I stand in the world.

I am excited for these next 6 months and last four transfers, to see what else God has in store for me. Transfers are next week so we will see if I get to stay in Sønderborg or if I will be off to a new area!

Jeg elsker jer!
