Lyngby and the Moving Piano-Søster Severson's Adventures in Lyngby Denmark June 28, 2021 Week 62

Image
Good first week in Lyngby! Sister Williams and I both moved in, and are settled! Our apartment is on the top floor of our complex with no AC so it gets a little stuffy but hopefully it won't get too much hotter than it has been.  We had a good week though! Contacting, service, meeting with friends etc. Your classic missionary week.  Sunday we were filming a music video for our Facebook page in front of the Copenhagen Temple, so catch that coming out in a few days. We had to drag a piano from the church building the street over, to infront of the temple... that one is probably going to need to be tuned... scratched up the road pretty bad too... but the piano and temple grounds are fine and the video turned out really beautiful so we are counting that as a win. But if you wanted to know how many missionaries it takes to move a piano, the answer is four. :)  Gladsaxe 2 Menighed lives up to the hype, the ward is fantastic and I am super excited to be serving there. This...

Vaccine and Sjælland-Søster Severson's Adventures in Horsens Denmark June 21, 2021 Week 61

It has been a good week!! Unexpectedly my last here in Horsens... but good news I'm going to Lyngby in København!!  København  is on the island of  Sjælland. If you remember from last week, sister Skousen and I found out we were going to be training a new Danish sister together but president changed his mind and now Sister Skousen is training and I am leaving.  I will be with Sister Williams though and we will be serving in what will be our new mission President's home ward. Still over Instagram and still helping with Danish Connect, just a little closer to the rest of the tech stuff.  I'm a little nervous to be leaving Jylland, I like the jysk they speak here and am a little scared of the super speedy Københavnsk. But it will be an adventure and maybe I will learn to speak super speedy Danish too.  This week was pretty low key, we did a lot of knocking and contacting which was a good last goodbye to Horsens. And I got my first vaccine shot...

Chapters of our Mission Lives-Søster Severson's Adventures in Horsens Denmark June 14, 2021 Week 60

Image
This is Sister Severson writing a weekly to fulfill her mother's plea for some sort of sign that we are doing something here in Horsens, probably super illogical and boring- viewer discretion advised  Picture this: you are Søster Severson and Søster Skousen, you wake up at 6:30 to an email that you are eligible to get book Covid vaccines, excited you decide to use your exercise time to walk over to the church to book times as early as possible.  So now it is like 6:47 you are walking down the street in your pajamas/ work out clothes (nametagless because you forgot to put that baby on) and a random man in his late 50s cat calls you over to the cafĂ© he is sitting outside to talk with him. You proceed to have an hour long conversation with the dude and off handedly mention your friend is getting baptized on Saturday Fast forward to like 4:20 ish and you are meeting outside with another friend and recent convert and the same dude from that morning shows up again, walks up t...

Out of Quarentine, Again!-Søster Severson's Adventures in Horsens Denmark, May 31, 2021 Week 58

Image
Pretty much nothing happened this week, we were in quarantine the first couple days, then we went out and contacted and knocked a lot when we were finally free.  The weather is finally getting super nice! We were able to do some of our studies outside in the park across the street from us. Super nice! Good times, mission is being good, transfers are coming up and I will probably be staying here in Horsens. But that's good, I still don't feel like I know the area super well so more time to put down roots!  Spiritual thought comes from a devotional I was listening to called "Your Refined Heavenly Home" by Douglas L. Callister 2006, he quotes  Hugh Nibley in saying:  “If you pray for an angel to visit you, you know what he’ll do if he comes. He’ll just quote the scriptures to you—so you’re wasting your time waiting for what we already have.” I liked that point, use the scriptures! Use what we already have! My companion had a very interesting discussion about how,...

Great Traveling and Testing Danish-Søster Severson's Adventures in Horsens Denmark, May 24, 2021 Week 57

Image
This was a good week!! We did a lot of travelling, it looked a little something like this: Monday: Copenhagen, then Roskilde for a sleepover with our favorite STLs  Tuesday: Copenhagen / Horsens I had a language test to extend my Visa, pretty breezy they told you the answers in the questions though so I would be very surprised if anyone failed. Got to drive with the Frederacia sisters who are our favourites. Found GF burgers.  Wednesday: Horsens, chill day! Our friend Simon decided to be baptized!! Super excited for him!!  Thursday: Randers! We had in person district council for the first time this week even though the transfer is more than half over. Really fun though! We have some personalities in our district that is for sure. Got the legendary Randers Kabab but we missed our train home :*(  Friday: Horsens + ZL splits with Elder Vestergaard and Paulsen, made us feel good when they had a hard time contacting here too.  Elder Paulsen said "God is not on...

Really Good Week! Søster Severson's Adventures in Horsens Denmark, May 17, 2021 Week 56

Image
This was a really good week!! Here are the highlights:   -Interviews in person with President Olsen!! Always great to see them, they only have a few weeks left so we are trying to savor our time with them!!    - Service!!! We got to go help someone weed their garden, always our favorite thing. We got a lot of dirt under our nails but otherwise just sat on the ground so we were thriving- good mental break.    -Pouyon got baptized!! Remember the friends we found through Instagram?? Well he got baptized and we got to be there for it! It was up in Randers so we got to drive up there with the Odense Sisters. Sister English and I were asked to witness, which was a super special opportunity. We were a little nervous because the water was barely over their knees, like the shallowest font ever... but it was perfect!!    Spiritual thought of the week is from Acts chapter 8 verses 17- 20    17 Then laid they their hands on them, and the...

Moving Apartments-Søster Severson's Adventures in Horsens Denmark, May 10, 2021 Week 55

Hej! Today we moved apartments here in Horsens. We have been packing since 6:30 am this morning, and now I'm tired. Our new apartment is great, and we feel lucky to be here. We've got an amazing view out our window. #blessings. Saturday we had our Zone Conference in Odense, and as usual I loved seeing old friends. We even got to eat lunch as a group. First time for everything. Søster Skousen and I recorded a couple of podcasts, and we'll make those public in a few years. For now, we'll continue to expand our ability to understand the principles of the gospel, and we'll grow our testimonies one discussion at a time. We've got S. English and S. Port helping us with Instagram, and we're excited to keep things moving forward. Miracles have been everywhere this past week. We were teaching a member from the Horsens ward we hadn't seen in a while. Because of CoVid and rules, we met outside in the plaza in front of his apartment building. Just as we were starti...
