Chapters of our Mission Lives-Søster Severson's Adventures in Horsens Denmark June 14, 2021 Week 60
This is Sister Severson writing a weekly to fulfill her mother's plea for some sort of sign that we are doing something here in Horsens, probably super illogical and boring- viewer discretion advised
Picture this: you are Søster Severson and Søster Skousen, you wake up at 6:30 to an email that you are eligible to get book Covid vaccines, excited you decide to use your exercise time to walk over to the church to book times as early as possible.
So now it is like 6:47 you are walking down the street in your pajamas/ work out clothes (nametagless because you forgot to put that baby on) and a random man in his late 50s cat calls you over to the café he is sitting outside to talk with him. You proceed to have an hour long conversation with the dude and off handedly mention your friend is getting baptized on Saturday
Fast forward to like 4:20 ish and you are meeting outside with another friend and recent convert and the same dude from that morning shows up again, walks up to you and invites you to meet with him and his friends to talk about god.
Ok weird but we are rolling with it, his name is Bendt and he showed up at the baptism too so I'll keep you updated on how it goes with him lol.
Mission conference was good! We are down to 33 missionaries in the mission with only 10 Elders RIP 4 Americans 4 Danes and 2 Germans, poor guys. President showed us a clip of Emperor Penguins and a clip from Happy Feet, as part of his farewell training. It was great. We were super sad we couldn't stay and talk to people after but we had to get to Simon's BAPTISM.
That was super super precious, he was so happy and it was so wonderful to see him make covenants with God and how accepting the ward is of him.
We also found out we are getting a 3rd COMPANION WHO IS DANISH LITERALLY SO EXCITED she is from Roskilde and headed to England but can't get over there for a few weeks because of Visas so Sister Skousen and I get to train her together!!!
Spiritual thought is from 1 Corinthians 1/ 2
1, 27 "But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;"
2, 1-5 " And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God.
For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.
And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling.
And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:
That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God."
Tbh missionaries are pretty weak, pretty young, and not exactly who I would trust to preach the gospel if I really wanted get the beauty and eloquence of the gospel across to Gods children. But they really drive home the point that God can do anything with anyone, it is by His power and His spirit that we teach and preach. It is because we are weak and young and small that we show others how great God is. When our words (especially our Danish) fails, the Lord can still accomplish his purpose.
4,20 "For the Kingdom of God is not in word, but in POWER."
Elsker jer! Vi fortsætter med at bede for de missionærer, der endnu ikke er i danmark. Vi er ivrige og klar til at modtage dem og glade for dette nye kapitel i missionen.
