He Lives! Søster Severson's Adventures in Sønderborg Denmark, April 5, 2021 Week 50
Another week gone and we are not sure where it went. The past few weeks have flown by, and we have had it meget travlt.
We have been working on Instagram and have been able to give out a couple referrals already from it!! One of them, a friend named Pouyon had walked by one of our church building up in Randers nearly every day and always wanted to join. Then we wrote to him on Instagram and he was really excited about the message we had to share and that we encouraged him to pray and read in his native language. So he felt a little torn because he liked what we were sharing but he also felt a connection to the building he walked past every day, that his friend had told him was full of the best and nicest people. Needless to say he was SO excited to learn they are in fact the same church. ;) #godisgoodlikethat
We did some good service for some members in our ward, helping plant trees and move stones. Somewhere along the way in North Carolina I learned that i am in fact my parents daughter and really like yard work??? Gross. But seriously it makes me so happy and I am always so so excited anytime we have service opportunities.
We also had Zone Conference in person this week!! Which meant we took up to Aarhus and see some of our favorite Missionaries. We got to drive part of the way with the Fredericia sisters whom we love.
Absolute highlight of the week though was general conference!! Getting to hype it up to our friends and then watch it... literally the best. When I listen to conference I have no idea how someone could not feel the power, authority, and truth that radiates from those men. They truly are prophets and apostles of God.
President even let us (the sisters and very clearly only the sisters in the mission RIP Elders) stay up and watch the Sunday afternoon session live which was from 10pm-midnight and sleep in on Monday. So worth it to hear some amazing talks and so excited about all of the new temples!!!
I have been able to do a lot of studying recently which has led to just an even more overwhelming appreciation and love for the scriptures. Something I read in John chapter 3 this week reminded me both of the purpose of prophets, apostles, and missionaries:
"Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen"
John 3:11
This verse stood out to me because of how simple and honest it is. This is missionary work. This is being a disciple of Jesus Christ. Learning of Him and then witnessing it. It doesn't matter if we are accepted or not, in fact, verse 11 ends by saying "and ye receive not our witness" what matters is the sign that we show God. Are we willing to be faithful? Are we willing to be bold? Do we know the Gospel? Because if we truly do, we will have a desire to share it with others. If you are struggling with a desire to share or speak up about your faith I would invite you to seek ways to strengthen it. Study the doctrine, and immerse yourself in scripture, start conversations about faith with your loved ones. I promise you will find your faith will flow out of you and you will find you yourself have become a spring of "living water", a pillar of light, and a living testimony of Jesus Christ. But in order to "speak" and "testify" we first have to "know" and have "seen".
My mother will be so disappointed to see I took exactly 1 picture this week... (sorry) so here are some of our recent Instagram posts! Have fun running them through google translate ;)
