Strengths & Weaknesses-Søster Severson's Adventures in Sønderborg Denmark, March 8, 2021 Week 46
Hello friends!! What have we done this week? Fantastic question, I could not answer because it was not an incredibly interesting week but here were some things I learned:
- going on walks with strangers is like playing Russian roulette with people who live in Sønderborg. We posted an ad asking if anyone wanted to go on a walk with us and we have met some pretty weird but also some super super awesome people because of it!
- teaching English makes me realize what weird things I do when I speak. Hearing other people try to pronounce English words makes me realize what a weird accent I have? Also we only hear American English from other Missionaries so we hear more international people speaking English than natives right now which is kind of funny.
-I use "like" as a filler word in Danish ha-ha oops, our DL pointed that out and I hadn't even realized I was doing it my California girl is just too deep... we will work on that this week haha
Something else that I realized this week is how much I absolutely HATE contacting (said every missionary ever) but I LOVE teaching. But that is ok! I am working on accepting that everyone has strengths and weaknesses in this life. I should try my best to maximize my strengths and make the best out of my weaknesses. But that doesn't mean I have to be amazing at everything! It is kind of fun to fail sometimes ! It makes you realize your gifts and appreciate your successes. There is something really beautiful and fun about failing, being confused, or being inadequate. It means we have room to grow, space to depend on Jesus Christ. What it means is that we can be MORE! And I am trying to remember that the first 4/5ths of the gospel don't take that much time to do-- but the last fifth (enduring to the end) is pretty much most of our lives! We might as well try and find meaning, rest and peace in that constant and exhaustive truth that we will be growing and progressing for eternity. What a gift! What a life! I'm glad I hate contacting! Recognizing that doesn't make me hate it any less, but it does keep me humble and keep me excited to teach. Lol.
Love you all!
Søster Severson
