Sister Severson's Mission Adventures 4th of July in Fayetteville NC Week 11
Hej!!!!
Hope everyone had an awesome Independence Day!!! Not a ton happened this week but here are some highlights:
1.
Meals with Members!! We can now eat outside with members so we had 2
dinner appointments this week. Both were really fun and also reallllyyyy
awkward.
2. Zone Conference!! Super fun! We got
to meet President and Sister Henderson the new mission president. They
are so cute!! The actual zone conference was nice but it was rough
because it was a billion degrees and we had to wear our masks the whole
time. But it was probably for the best since we were outside right next
to a garbage treatment plant...
3. Exchanges!
Exchanges are where you switch companions with one of the young
missionary leaders for 24 hours so they can train you. So Sister Butler
headed up to Cary near Apex and I got to be companions with Sister Clark
for 24 hours down here in Hope Mills!!! It was super fun! Also super
scary/ stressful to be in charge of the SIM card for our area- lots of
messages from the middle of conversations I had no idea how to respond
to.
4. Fourth of July!!! Super fun! Sister Clark
and I got to go help out at a ward members neighborhood parade. The
Elders and us built a giant balloon arch that only kind of fell apart
but it was so much fun!! Yay America!!
5. 2% sad
that our friend Paula keeps cancelling on us, but super excited for her
to keep learning and growing in her faith. She has such a kind spirit
and desire to follow him and we dropped off a Come Follow Me book to her
that she has been studying with a member we introduced her to every
Sunday- if y'all want to add her to your prayer roles that would be much
appreciated.
Spiritual
Thought: One of my favorite call to action/ savage scriptures in the
entire Book of Mormon is from Alma 60:21 and says "Or do ye suppose that
the Lord will still deliver us, while we sit upon our thrones and do
not make use of the means which the Lord has provided us?" As I read
back over this scripture this week I was struck again by how much God
has given me, and I asked myself what gifts, talents, and means has the
Lord given me that I am being idle with? How do I change? I know that
when we feel the call and desire to change that all we need to do is
repent. All repentance is, is action and turning to the Lord and
choosing to continue to progress rather than stall or stay latent. When
we depend on God and on the Atonement of Jesus Christ we become better.
Dansk Ord: This week's danish word is a shout out for my Dad, sygehus. Literally sick house... or hospital. Classic Danes.
